Join us for a conversation with Elli Toivoniemi as we disucss her journey to becoming one of the most recognized producers in Finland and how a career in independent film led to an Academy Award nomination. Elli Toivoniemi is an award-winning producer-director based in Helsinki, Finland and one of the founders and owners of the production company Tuffi Films. Her work includes the Academy Award nominated short fiction Do I Have to Take Care of Everything (2012), the winner of Sundance Short Film Jury Award The Date (2013), the Crystal Bear-winning Stupid Young Heart (2018) and the Gold Hugo winner The Good Son (2011). Her feature Games People Play (2020) premiered in Göteborg IFF, where it also competed in the prestegious Best Nordic Film Category. Toivoniemi is an EAVE & ACE producer graduate, recently recognized as Film Producer of the Year 2020 by Audiovisual Producers in Finland.
