Synopsis:

Before leaving for Brooklyn, Valerie must navigate one last boat day with her sister.

Set on a sailboat, Being Here is a slice-of-life drama that chronicles the re-connection of two sisters. Inspired by vérité filmmaking of Agnès Varda and mumblecore of the early 2000s, this autofiction short captures the emotionally complex queer experience of being closeted.

Within the muted beauty of a conservative coastal town, Valerie navigates life with her sexuality kept carefully hidden. The constant, unspoken weight of expectation is embodied by her younger sister, Riley, a model of straight success who makes Valerie’s yearning feel like a radical act.
